Wine On: Panoramic Pinots at Salty's On The Columbia
Nathan Vogt and Matthew Carter at Panoramic Pinot Celebration
WINE ON THE RIVER: I tasted prosciutto pretzels with bacon, and bacon-flavored caramel corn, but I didn't taste any bacon wine. That's because the Panoramic Pinot Celebration, held last night at Salty's on The Columbia, was all about sipping (and a little bit of spitting out) some of Oregon's most intriguing Pinot Noir vintages.
For only $29 per person, attendees enjoyed wine tastings from producers including—Ponzi, Willakenzie, Erath, Dobbes, Sokol Blosser, Willamette Valley Vineyards, Archery Summit, Lange, Van Duzer, Argyle, Vista Hills, Anne Amie and more. They also had a chance to chat with folks from the wineries and learn about the process, passion and perfection that go into each bottle of Oregon Pinot Noir. Salty’s former Sommelier Matthew Carter (who recently landed a new gig downtown at The RiverPlace Hotel's Three Degrees) hosted the event, and Salty’s Executive Chef Dana Cress presented hors d’oeuvres of the bacon and non-bacon variety including Duck Confit, Fried Taro Root & Preserved Lemon-Thyme Gremolata, Gruyere & Crab-Stuffed Mushrooms and Grilled Grape Leaves Stuffed with Salmon Mousse.
Wine, food and an incredible view. It doesn't get better than this.
