PostHeaderIcon Stardar Report: Lion King Roars Into Portland

JUNGLE BOOGIE: It was press night on Friday for the incredible delightful musical experience that is Disney's The Lion King, currently playing at The Keller Auditorium and receiving rave reviews from The Oregonian's Grant Butler.

The show, as always, dazzled due in large part to theatrical designer Michael Curry (above).

Curry (who lives in Portland and houses his mega-design biz in Scappoose, Ore.) and his family were in attendance  as were about every person in the Portland media scene including KGW's Brenda Braxton and Russ Lewis, KATU's Helen Raptis and The Buzz's Mitch Elliott.

Curry was thrilled to see the show, even though it was at least the 200th time he had seen it and even though he is busy at work on both Spider-Man, The Musical, a (hopefully) Broadway-bound musical that has him working once again with Lion King collaborator, Julie Taymor. Good luck with all that, Michael!
