GOOD TASTE: We had the pleasure of being the guests of Boeing's one and only Deanna Haley at a wonderful dining event called "Taste: Cooking for Kids event at New Deal Distillery."

This is the 18th season of TASTE, a series of seven fine dining events showcasing the region’s most spectacular restaurants and chefs paired with the finest Oregon wineries. 

The Chef for the evening was Ben Dyer, a bit of a wizard chef, who owns Laurelhurst Market. The meaty joint is one part neighborhood butcher shop with meats that are antibiotic, and hormone free, the other part is a nationally recognized steakhouse. He also owns  Simpatica Dining Hall, a place that serves fixed menu dinners by reservation only. Dyer believes strongly in sourcing his meats from sustainable farms that raise pasture fed animals under humane conditions.
Each course was paired with a cocktail from the wonderful New Deal Distillery. All of the artisan vodkas are made locally in small batches with Bull Run water and natural and organic ingredients,sourced locally whenever possible.

It was a wonderful dinner and night.
